The National Institute for Newman Studies (“NINS”) is pleased to publish your article entitled _____________________________________________________ (the “Article”) in its journal, the Newman Studies Journal (“NSJ”). So that you as author and we as editors and publisher of the NSJ may be protected from the consequences of unauthorized use of the contents of the journal, we believe that it is mutually beneficial to have a written agreement addressing certain copyright and other issues relating to the publication of your submission in NSJ. We therefore ask that you grant us all rights to your article, including subsidiary rights. However, as set forth below, you retain the right to use your article as published in this journal, or in a revised form, without any charge to you, in any work of your choosing, after it has appeared in NSJ. The following are the terms of publication:

1) The undersigned hereby irrevocably grants, assigns, and transfers exclusively to NINS all rights, title, and interest in and to the Article, without reservation, including the full and exclusive rights comprised in the copyright in the Article during the full term of the copyright and any extensions thereof, including but not limited to the right, by itself or with others, throughout the world, to print, reproduce, publish, republish, and distribute the Article, in whole or in part, as part of the NSJ publication and any revised editions thereof and as a stand-alone work or as part of a different collection, and to prepare, publish, and distribute derivative works based thereon, in English and all other languages, in all media of expression now known or later developed, and to license or permit others to do so. NINS’s rights shall include but not be limited to: (a) the right to modify, revise, edit, change, review, abridge, condense, and/or translate the Article; (b) the right to grant permission to others to re-publish the Article, in whole or in part, with or without a fee to NINS; (c) the right to produce reprints of the Article for sale or free distribution; (d) the right to re-publish the Article, in whole or in part, in a collection of articles or in any other format, including the right to reproduce the Article by itself; and (e) all subsidiary rights, including but not limited to electronic media rights, throughout the world. The undersigned agrees that, upon request and at the expense of NINS, he or she will take all actions required to ensure that all such rights, title, and interest in the Article vests in NINS.

2) The undersigned warrants that his or her contribution is original and that he or she has full power to grant the rights set forth in this document. The undersigned guarantees that the Article contains no matter that is libelous or otherwise unlawful, or which invades individual privacy, or which infringes any proprietary right. The undersigned further guarantees that the Article has not been published previously elsewhere.

3) The undersigned understands and agrees that he or she has the right of republication of the article, either as originally published in this journal or in a revised form, without any charge to him or her, in any work of his or her choosing, after it has appeared in NSJ, subject to the express condition that such republication bear the same copyright notice as appeared in this original publication of the article by NINS in a location which gives reasonable notice of such claim or copyright.

4) The undersigned understands and agrees that he or she will receive no royalty or other monetary compensation from NINS for the use of his or her material, but that, as consideration for the assignment of rights set forth herein, NINS will publish the article at its own cost and expense.
